Surf comp

In the morning, at 8 my dad sponsored a surf comp for 500$ dollars for the open men and 500$ for the open women but, I was in the under 12s my first heat was at 10:25. It was really hard surf for me I had Oille and Milo. It was a challenging heat for me, when I paddled out I was nervous. I made it out there were some big sets. I heard a buzzer go off which means time to start. I couldn't catch any waves until there were 5 minutes to go and a good wave came and I paddle and paddle, I caught it and did a nice turn. Then I paddle back out and another one came I did another turn and my dad saw and I came 2nd.

I was in the finals. I was nervous I paddled out and I was in a rip and so I paddled to a different spot i caught a wave but it closed out and I didn't catch any good one but i came 2nd. I also learnt how to catch heeps more waves then normal.  

Snowboarding

My Dads friend asked if we wanted  to go snowboarding, and my dad said yes. So we went.  I was so excited to go. It was a 6 hour drive. It was so boring, but it was well worth it. We were on our way to Whakapapa. 

It was the first day and I hit the T - bar, it was really hard and I hated it. But I had to do it, so I could get up the mountain.  I was so sore as it would yank my leg as I was going up. 

If I lived somewhere where there was snowboarding or ski fields I think I would love to do it full time. 

The next day we went to  the other side of the mountain called Turoa. It turned out to be the better side because it had chair lifts and not T bars. We were waiting for the lift to open,  then we went up and it was a nice view. As we went up the chair lift named the giant. I think it was named that because it was a really big lift. There was a big bowl, it was so cool. I learnt to do some little jumps.

I had a great weekend away with my dad.

Variety of texts

 This week in our reading group we to figure what kind writing structure was in the texts and it was a procedure because it had equipment and instruction. It also had word like place, colour and it also had instruction like fold 4 centimeter. It also had bullet points.  

Otukakara Action Day

 First we did a 5 guiding principles leaf while we waited for the powhiti to end. Then we started to walk up scarly way. It was very muddy, we had cross a little stream. It was a decent size jump though, I made it just. I watched people jump, and Tre fell in. Next, we carried on walking and we saw some curious cows. We got to a muddy patch and I stepped in a big hole and got so muddy.

By then, we stopped for brain break and to listen to the water coming through the hills. Next, we walked in clay and it got stuck to my shoes. It was heavy. We spotting this baby cow taking a nap, and it's mum looked like it was getting angry. It was time for lunch, so had some. It was fun and I learnt where Hamanatua started.

 When the bell rang we did a quick lap around the field and then we went to the hall. After that we got put into groups. Most of our group was away so it was just a group of 3. Then we got our first clue. It was a ticket we looked at it and had no idea what to do. Then we looked at the link on the card, it took us to a site and it had code word, next we looked at the video and it said search up pig pen.

So we did and we decoded  it, it spelled whiteboard, so we got our second clue then we sat down. And the teacher sorted us out in to our groups we teamed up with another group and we had to do actions to spell coordinates, then they did it  for us.  

Next the teacher said we're making paper planes. They handed out paper and I got the moth. I think it was the better one, the first one we tried to hit this target  and I didn't hit it. Next we went to see how far we could throw our planes, I didn't get very far. Then we did this accuracy thing I didn't hit it though. 

The day was really fun because we did something different and my favourite part was trying to hit the target.

Cross Country

 Boom! we were lining up on the starting line my heart was racing. Then we started. I was 6th place at the start because I didn't want to use all my energy. I was trying to jog the whole way. I was about half way into a lap into and i was getting puffed. 

 Just finished my first lap now I was on my second lap. I Was so tired so I walked little bit of the way. Then I started running again then i got down to the gally and i was so happy to be on my last lap so I ran to the finish line. The end.

Rugby Game

 Last Friday we played rugby, we played against St Marys. When we got there we started running round the field in a group, if we weren't in close together we had to do it again, but we did it good the first time.  Our coach is trying to teach us to work together as a team. Then we did some drills\passing to each other.

Then they kicked to us. Me, Max, Cash, Rori and Cory we're off on the sideline. Stormur got the ball and ran up, then got dropped on his back and they got the ball and scored a try. Then I hopped on from off the sideline and I got a good tackle and then I  got the ball and passed to Stormur, he ran up and scored a try.

Then it got to half time and we had a talk and Rori, Cory, Cash and Max got on and we started to scored more tries. In the end we lost 50-60.

rugby training

First we did a lap round the field in a bunch. Then we went in groups of 2 or 3 and passed to each other in a line. Then we had turn at tackling the bags. Then we had a game of rugby we kicked to the other team and Vinnie  got the ball and started to run with it and i tackled,   then we got the ball and  scored a try.

Then the coach told us to play two handed touch and that was dumb then we went back to tackle. They kicked off to us and Reef got the ball and ran up with and scored a try. Then the bell rang and we went back to school and we ate lunch. I can't wait until tomorrow's game!  

Action Day At Wainui Beach

 When I got to school we went straight to the beach and started walking and picked up rubbish. First thing I found was a beer bottle, we kept walking, we were in  groups of  three (we had Reef, me and Cory). Then we started walking again then Reef found a balloon. 

We're halfway to the surf club and we saw a penguin box, then when we were at the surf club we had a play, and we got some sticks and went to the river and stick surfed it was fun.  We started to walk up to the stream and clean up there and we found 3 balloons and Reef found 2 of them.      

I was disappointed to see all that rubbish, but I learned how much rubbish is on the beach everyday. 

Little Blue Penguins

Little Blue Penguins go to sea to catch fish for  their babies  but when they come back there are cars and rats and only a couple lived to feed the babies. Some threats of the blue penguins are stoats cat dog, cars, sharks, and sea lions.

Blue penguins in the sea can travel up to 6 kmph . Blue penguins live up to 8-10 years old. Blue penguins can weigh  up to 2.6lb. They are the the smallest penguin in the world.

This is why blue penguins are endangered because dogs, cats, stoats and sharks, seals ferrets the predators eat the baby and the eggs. blue penguins hang around the same house for many years.

cooks cove walk

cook cove walk.

 In the morning on Thursday we got into our cars and travelled for  20 mins to drive to Tolaga Bay. Then we pulled up to Cooks Cove.  Then we had a talk, then got  into our groups and walked. The first part was easy, but boring. When we got to the  beam of light at the top of the hill, from there on it got hard.

From the beam of light it was kind of hard. when we got to the look out it was all down hill and that was harder than going up hill.  When we got to the look out the view was so awesome. Then from there it  got hard and when we got down a little bit we saw... we went down and down until we made it to hole in the wall then  we got to the spot we had some morning tea. 

Then we got the hole in the wall and when and started to walk back it felt like me leg was gonna fall off. And then we got back to the start I was so relieved. I felt so good to sit down my back was so sore. Finaly we got into roadworks and it was so long.The end
